Uh Oh

Obama Faces Criticism From Left

In the view of his critics on the left, Obama--once rated the most liberal member of the Senate--is reinventing himself as a pragmatic moderate as he prepares to take office and is making what some liberals see as foolish decisions in an effort to broaden his appeal.

These critics reacted sharply when he selected a gay-marriage opponent, the Rev. Rick Warren of Saddleback Church, to give the invocation at the inauguration. One of the milder rebukes came from Kathryn Kolbert, president of the liberal group People for the American Way, who expressed "grave disappointment" over the president-elect's choice.

So what happens when Obama faces criticism from the right too?

Something tells me that the right wingers won't have a Nancy Pelosi "impeachment is off the table" problem unlike the lefty leader certainly has had.

Does Obama really know what the HELL he is doing, because I think, so farObama is looking and acting pretty stupid, particulary with the choice of choice of Rick Warren. Obama has no problem trashing MoveOn.org people but wants to court the Ralph Reed and convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff Christian groupies? I mean, WTF?

Marc Rich By Any Other Name would still be...

Oh gosh, Bush doesn't do one better that Clinton's Marc Rich pardon, it actually looks worse.

...a Brooklyn, N.Y., man, Isaac Robert Toussie, received the legal equivalent of a lump of coal.

Toussie, convicted of making false statements to the Housing and Urban Development Department and of mail fraud, was among 19 people pardoned Tuesday.

But after learning in news reports that Toussie's father had donated tens of thousands of dollars to the Republican Party a few months ago, as well as other information, the White House issued an extraordinary statement Wednesday saying the president was reversing his decision on Toussie's case.

It's like I've always said, loyality to Bush is a one-way street. Unless one happens to be a oilman, donating to the Repug party is really a dead end deal. It probably all ended up in Sarah Palin’s Neiman Marcus wardrobe anyway, which is the only store the benefited handsomely during the oil party reign this dismal Christmas season, at least for everyone else out there not evolved in big oil looting and pillaging of our national treasury.

Who Knew Chevrolet Had a Hybrid Malibu?

GM certainly didn't advertise that fact that it manufactured any hybrid vehicles, unlike the way Ford advertised it's Ford Escape hybrid, I mean, what would big oil say, if consumers knew about GM's hybrids????

The fact is GM and Chrysler very nearly bought the farm kissing big oil ass. All I ever saw on TV of late are those
Hummer commercials as GM seems to be only interested in marketing to the Gilded few left among us.

From
Bloomberg:

Dec. 20 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp. Chief Executive Officer Richard Wagoner was in the front seat of a (hybrid) Chevrolet Malibu on Dec. 3, hungry on his way to Washington from Detroit to save his company.

And this:

While Ford Motor Co. said it doesn’t need immediate assistance, Bush had decided he wouldn’t be the president who let GM and Chrysler go bankrupt.

It was never the labor unions, nope, it's was CEO Wagoner and a bunch of Big Oil love'n Board members complete with a stupid non-working money pit called the Chevy Volt.

BTW, Bloomberg also has this tidbit:

The turning point came Dec. 10, as White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten and Vicej President Dick Cheney met with Senate Republicans over salmon and rotisserie chicken in the Capitol’s Mansfield Room to argue for approval of $14 billion in loans to GM and Chrysler set to pass the House.

Within an hour and a half of their 12:50 p.m. arrival, Corker told reporters that Cheney and Bolton’s presentation was “non-compelling.”

Oh, I see how it is, Congressmen Corker was munching on Salmon and Rotisserie, (and you bet it was at taxpayer funded expense too,) AND lets us not forget that during Dubya's Gilded reign during the last eight years, congress voted itself FOUR raises, most of which time was totally under Republican control. Boy, Congressman Corker doesn't sacrifice a thing during these hard times for US citizens, does he?

Somebody gave Dubya an Ultimatum

Because little Bush sure did change his tune in a hurry, didn't he? Dubya is no longer the huffy little ingrate sitting in the company of AEI snobs.

So thanks Obama, (I had know idea what threat Obama used but it work, so all is well that ends well).

White House to bail out GM and Chrysler - MSNBC

President Bush approved more than $17 billion in emergency loans Friday, saying he had no choice to save jobs and prevent the recession from getting worse

The Bushie Portrait

Bush whacked by shoe, (if only the shoe had found it's target), but, none the less, Bushie will be remember by how much people dislike him and have every right to dislike him. Take your good-bye kiss and go home Bushie.

Heckuva Job Bushie

Once again Bushie is on vacation.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Chrysler LLC announced late Wednesday that it is stopping all vehicle production in the United States for at least a month.

All 30 of the carmaker's plants will close after the last shift on Friday, and employees will not be asked to return to work before Jan. 19.

While Bush enjoys his taxpayer funded pay check and warm, comfy holiday season in the tax funded Whitehouse, Bushie doesn't let himself be bothered with out-of-work automakers. This Christmas, Chrysler Autoworkers will be at local state employment office by Monday, the 22nd, filing for workers compensation because Bush is simply too busy drinking his alcoholic laced eggnog and handing out the tax funded $ 700 billion bailout to his campaign contributors, but out-of-work automakers can't get the time of day from Dubya.

UPDATE: Bush is so nasty on so many levels. This is WHY Pelosi NEEDED TO IMPEACH his royal highness.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush expressed concern on Thursday that a disorderly bankruptcy in the auto industry could be "very destabilizing" and said he was looking for concessions from labor unions and others in deciding on aid to automakers.
The un-bid contract making, law breaking Blackwater loving Preznut who give like no tomorrow in his slush fund corporate campaigns spend of $ 700 billion taxpayer money, won't be happy till he fucks over the average American auto workers too. It's like those slugs that Bush gave the parents of dead military members saying "don't sell it on ebay?"

This is why I really wish the Iraq shoe throwing press member had not missed his target.

OMG, I Found a REAL Conservative.

I can remember a time when Republicans spoke and believed in the rule of law, talked and looked like Thomas Tamm. Mr. Tamm is the flip side of Glenn Greenwald AND NOBODY would make the mistake of calling Mr. Tamm a "lefty-liberal" even when he speaks much the same way as Glenn Greenwald does.

Mr. Tamm is the kind of conservative that today's Republican Party is missing, and the absents of these kind of conservatives are why Christopher Buckley quit the GOP saying it was "not his father's Republican Party." Under Bush and Cheney, the GOP is now the party of criminal, unchristian, dishonest liars - the lot of them. Today's GOP has become the party of sinister men with greedy, criminal agendas. A far-right conservative like Thomas Tamm would have impeached George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for not being conservative with taxpayer money, for breaking the rule of law, and for lying. This is why I say, Bush is not a conservative, he is a criminal - and there IS a big difference between the two. The conservative party that I knew and recognized prior to the Bush Administration simply doesn't exist anymore.

The History Channel

I highly recommend last nights History Channel presentation: Crash: The Next Great Depression?

"This one-hour special looks at the current economic meltdown in the US and compares and contrasts it with what led up to the Great Depression, the 1929 Crash, its immediate aftermath and what helped to bring us out of the Depression. Threading first person accounts with expert interviews, the special lets viewers understand how much history is repeating itself and what does history tell us about our future?"

Than the History Channel thus follows-up with Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Administration and how World War II and a sense of community and common cause pulled the nation out of our first depression. So here American is again, at a cross-roads and another war.

The future is NOT "Drill, Baby, Drill" or invade the Mideast either, but rather "Innovate, Baby, Innovate." That is the only direction that can save our planet and thus save ourselves, as well as our US economy from Big Oil's massive grave-yard plan that is being premeditated for all of humanity. If Obama chooses war with the Mideast - than it is Armageddon as surely the Mideast will acquire nuclear weapons, and NO American citizen will pull with Obama on questionable wars anymore than they did for Bush, but a war with ExxonMobil, BP and all of Western Big Oil Corporations is the ONLY war Americans will pull together on. Obama takes any other road, than we're screwed.

The war is NOT in the Mideast, it is right here on our own home turf, against corporate tyranny.

Bush in an Iraqi Photo-Op as GM Crumbles

Bush is off making a last ditch effort to put his beloved big oil contributors first and foremost even as GM crumbles into the dirt. No need to hurry any bailout for the auto industry while Bushie contemplates how best to screw over those lowly American autoworkers while threatening Iraqis with dismal BS about liberal agendas.

Meanwhile, if Bushie scrooge could outsource the labor of US autoworkers and save only those GM board members and GM’s blessed big oil loving CEO, Mr. Wagoner, than Bushies hate fill Christmas FU to average Americans will have been successfullly accomplished. I don’t know what irate and utter gibberish Bushie is lamenting to oil rich Iraqi dignitaries but the only genuine legacy Bushie really has is that NOBODY can believe a single obtuse word junior says. It’s all 100% trash talk. Iraqis will simply blink their eyes at Bushie’s stuttering lexicon, eye each impatiently awaiting for the silly idiot to get his drunken ass back on his presidential plane and leave Western Big Oil pipe-dreams in the dust.

UPDATE: Bush's fond farewell in Iraq.

The Iraq people know full well that Bush is only there for Iraqi oil and not for anything else.

It's Big Three Automaker Bailout Day

This from GM's CEO:

Some members of Congress had criticized the chief executives for traveling to the first set of hearings by corporate jet. Company spokespeople for Nardelli and GM chief executive G. Richard Wagoner Jr. said the top executives would not fly on company planes this time, but they would not disclose the mode of travel.

Nope, we stupid taxpayers just need to shut-up and hand over the money, it's none of business what Wagoner does as king of GM. Mr. Wagoner, once again shows us why GM is in such a bad way, and why bailout is very bad idea for these guys. If only we could replace some of them before the bailout.

Update: Kevin Drum says it all.

There just has to be a better way of handling this than forking over giant wads of cash with very few strings attached. GM doesn't need surgery, it needs to be rebuilt. That won't happen if they get an $18 billion bailout from Uncle Sam.

Kevin is absolutely right about this too. It looks like GM is trying to find ways to go under in order to dump it's labor union workers - than, reorganize after they discard their workers using massive bailout non-viability failings as a tool against a (a very stupid) Democratic congress with a double-sided axe against the labor unions too. So the GM bailout is getting uglier and uglier by the minute.

Spencer Ackerman is Asking the Right Question.

This from Ackerman's blog:

"These sources noted that Obama himself has said
he would not be "careless" about withdrawal and would retain a "residual" force of unspecified size to fight terrorists and protect U.S. diplomats and civilians. The officer most concerned about untimely withdrawal, sources said, is the Iraq commander, Gen. Ray Odierno."

Here's where the rubber hits the road. The Status of Forces Agreement just approved by the Iraqi Parliament calls for all U.S. troops to leave Iraq by December 2011. (It's possible they mey even have to leave by May 2010.) Not combat troops, all troops -- no residual force.
Obama hasn't said exactly what he makes of the deal, but since it does nothing but take a massive controversy off his plate, it's difficult to see why he'd oppose it.

The whole world is watching with baited breath to see exactly how Barack Obama responses to the mess in Iraq. Any attempt to defy the will of the Iraqi people will say volumes about who Obama really is, if Obama is going to try to save big oil or do the will of American voters instead of merely lying, the way Obama did with that FISA Bill. This Iraq mess shows the deep, permanent harm the Bush Administration wrought to Western Oil and their global brand names, but Bush/Cheney were big oil's representatives so big oil can hardly complain about the global hell-hole they're in right now.

With that said, it well soon be obvious why Obama pick Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State. It won't be pretty, and it will cause not only a national falling out with Obama as President within the US, but a global disenchantment too. We all know WHY Obama is picking Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. There is only one reason why the Marc Rich clemency team would get the go ahead in an Obama Administration.
