It's not peak oil, it's price fixing - big oil is now telling the press that it's the Euro that is the cause of their national price-fixing scam (and make no mistake, it's a con-job). So now we see that supposed Democrat, Prez Obama doesn't mind playing this game with the American people either. Everything Obama is doing is a big a lie, just like Bush and Dick Cheney were doing, every time those two opened their mouths.

But...but...but... does ExxonMobil know about this? Does British Petroleum know about this? What about T. Boon Pickens, does he know about it? Does Texas think it's Saudi Arabia now?

The major oil companies would have to give up control of Wall Street and the US congress and we all know that that ain't never, ever going to happen, not in a million f*** years. But wait, let us think about Texas seceding for a moment, okay. If Obama allows the US to own GM, why then make another oil powered car, ever? I mean really, if one could find a way to turn saltwater, for instance. into a combustible, well would not that make oil obsolete and over-night roo, wouldn't it?

This guy found a way to separate particles and ignite saltwater compounds, and of course, saltwater is the most abundant resource in the world. Si kets umagine a world without oil dictatorship, - no more war for oil ever again. Imagine what freedom fells like without slavery to the gas pump and the profit eating, rabid price fixing done by oil companies.

So now we can see that under Rush Limbaugh's flags of stupid hatred in Texas, Texas would surely secede into just another Mexico, really. I mean it's a right to work state, because in Texas you have the right to work for nothing at all, particular if oil should go belly up, so that like all those masses of poor that make up the Banana Republic of Mexico, Texans could work like dogs with no rights whatsoever and like it or not, I guess Texans could join a drug cartel and sell drugs or work for nothing. Whatever Texans - but please, oh please don't ask ExxonMobil about seceding from the US, because they aren't with Texans on that issue or even on the same page as I can guarantee all by my lonesome ro Texans that Big Oil would freak out, and that isan unfortunate matter of fact.

The Labor Union Workers Sucked GM Dry?

If only more American workers would give up their standard of living so Rick Wagoner and all those unnamed board members that got the axe right along with Mr. Wagoner could get more money after looting the company and all it's shareholders. JEEBUS! One must ask, what did Ford do right? They have labor union workers too.

Took a snapshot of this from the Wall Street Journal (must say, I'm surprised Murdock allowed the WSJ to back stab another member of the AEI like that, really)!

Mr. Wagoner, like other top GM executives, doesn't get severance, according to a GM filing on March 5. The filing says Mr. Wagoner was eligible for GM's executive-pension plan at the end of 2008. The filing lists the value of the pension as of Dec. 31, 2008, at $20.1 million.

According to the filing, Mr. Wagoner also had accumulated almost $535,000 in deferred compensation -- though that balance shrank from $766,000 during 2008.

Mr. Wagoner is also eligible to receive equity grants valued at roughly $366,000, according to the filing. A GM spokeswoman said those grants were long-term incentive compensation awarded in earlier years.

But still, Obama won't do a thing about those piano wire threatening bank bonus guys, except of course, to tell everyone, via sending his beloved loyalist, Mr. Summers out to tell us all that they can break contacts between rich people and taxpayer money. These are bonus that would NEVER have happened if bailouts weren't possible, even as as we all saw that Preznut Obama had no problem selling out the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution because huge telecoms, oil companies, big pharma and all those too big to fail banks own Obama and his administration, same as they owned the Bushies and all the GOP.

And furthermore, we all know that GM will end up in bankruptcy court anyway, right? The GOP will push for labor union busting court doctrine because the GOP would never dream of working with Obama and certainly not the average working class citizen of the US either because if you ain’t a member of the AEI, than you just don’t matter to that crowd – and because we can't compete with foreign countries unless a lot more Americans are living like people in third world countries. So, I'm waiting till we all get to the point where we’re ready to tell our congress that we're in control here and not their crooked, rich friends. It hasn't happened yet, however, when the unemployment numbers get closer to 15%, and they will, perhaps by then, enough Americans will start to wonder what the hell is going on in DC? Yeah, that and WTF ever happened with the damn press members and supposed acts of journalism in last few years?

Professor Michael Economides, Univerisity of Houston:

Economides said he sees the price of oil going from $40 per barrel now to near $200 per barrel in 18 months partly due to geopolitical issues. But he said some of the problem in the oil industry is the fear factor.

"They always want to believe the worst," Economides said.

As a result, a downturn feeds on itself.

"It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy," he said.

Economides said the one thing that will certainly send prices up toward $200 is the headline, "Israel attacks Iran."
Barring that, Economides said that by September 2009, he is expecting the natural decline in production due to the aging of oilfields coupled with the reduction in drilling activity to bring the supply and demand into equilibrium.

And now we know exactly WHY it was that Dick Cheney wanted Israel to attack Iran.

But frankly, at $ 200.00 a barrel for oil, that kind of price would generate an end of fossil fuel domination, simply because some Americans would refused to be a slave to that kind of consumer price raping. More than a few Americans would go into their collective garages and come up with somehing else, something other than fossil fuel energy, so Mr. Economides better hope that Israel doesn't ever bomb Iran. Those old Mad Max movies really were works of fiction and if Mr. Economides wants to find out how to go out of business overnight, that my gosh, by all means, bring on the $ 200.00 a barrel crude oil and lets see where that leads.

I don't know what Broder fears so much as long as those Repugs were able to preach tax cuts in order to tear down the Stimulus Bill into something no honest, non-senile American could possibly believe in. At this point perhaps it far better to let the banks fail, after all, Americans are getting nothing out of this new funny money business debt bill. There is nothing that makes the Stimulus Bill a stimulus or what it really is, a contract with American to pretend the funny money has any meaning, something that no half-wit US citizen should sign on too.

Right now, we are being lead to believe that poor Nancy Pelosi's misconception of a Stimulus Bill has Barack Obama furious about it's creation since it had too few corporate tax cuts. What was she thinking? Perhaps now, Obama should apologize for Nancy the way he did for that old spineless majority leader of the past, Tom Daschle, or better yet, just pick some Republican congress member to fill Tom's empty post in more examples of his bipartisan love-fest, and then, invite the GOP for more drinks at the Whitehouse.

Mean while TMP is wondering why Reid doesn't make Repugs filibuster?

The comical thing about Harry is that he never seems to know when to quit or when to quit. Harry Reid plays this mournful scene over and over again. I called it "the resigned loser," - take one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.... At some point, I have to wonder why Democrats like this kind of non-leader/loser so damn much? It must be because its quite the act really, and citizens or at least the netroots fall for it time and again. Those mean old Republicans! Dems only want to pretend its all the Repugs fault so they picked this hapless, lovable old loser, Reid to play the "beaten-up old man" over and over because, frankly it's quite the boon for Dems that don't like creating bills that only help average Americans citizen any more than those Repugs do. I mean, just look at all those grand influence peddled gifts and the people that Republicans always party with as they write off the nation bit by bit, that as oppose to the non-party Dems get for helping out the average boring American citizen. Oh wait, they had the AT&T Telecom Party, didn't they?

Most Americans will get a one time check, pay their rent/mortgage for one more month, that they'll have to move into a tent city. Krugman is right, Republicans are pushing the nation off a cliff.

Maybe with Nevada's falling unemployment numbers fall fast toward double digits, Reid can find himself a lobbyist job after his post senate vote out. Harry Reid leads the nation to cowardly defeat every chance he gets.

Arnold Schwarzenegger once said on ABC's This Week to, "look at what McCain does and not what he says".

Arnold says this ONLY because McCain has a big stupid mouth, and thus, usually spills the beans in his sleepy, senile old way, exposing the sinister and ugly truth behind those Bush Republicans and their shell games.

Lets take the word "pork barrel" for instance.

Republicans have refined the art of loaded terminology. Some of the examples are: socialism, entitlements, special interest, and let's not forget that string of words, "Social Security privacy accounts" which has morphed into the word "entitlement" of late. To illustrated this fact, McCain shows how Repugs think you shouldn't be entitled to social security benefits even if when the government takes out funds from your payroll check every week to pay for social security benefits. BTW, those social security privacy "gambling" accounts would have amounted to nothing in today's Wall Street post-Bush collapsed economy, so be forewarned about tricky Repugs and their multi-underhanded snake oil marketing schemes. You know this, I know this, we all know this about the shell games Repugs love to play with taxpayer money.

Just listen as McCain talks about the mortgaging of your social security benefits.

McCain shows how the government, and particularly it WAS the Bush Administration and it's THOSE Bush Republicans that are now belly aching about the Stimulus Bill in congress, after having mortgaged everything to those guys on Wall Street, Repugs now want to mortgage Pell Grants and your child's K-12 education funding to their Wall Street campaign contributors, the same guys that got the bonuses and all the like minded, wealthy corporate special interest that support Repug campaigns and corporate influence peddled goodies.

The Pell Grant isn't "pork barrel" spending - but bonuses on Wall Street are in fact "pork barrel" spending projects, projects that Repugs NEVER, EVER complain about - or hasn't anyone notice? Obama talks about the Wall Street bonus heist but Republicans don't say a word about those Wall Street guys and the taxpayer robbery.

I have to say that McCain looks like he's almost crying in his latest TV media rounds, and it's all because Obama hasn't been bipartisan enough to let Republican's decorate his Stimulus Bill "Christmas Tree" with their rich and corporate friendly tax cut ornaments.

If Obama is Wise....

THE worst thing Obama could do right now would be to ask Nancy Pelosi to simmer down, as she has a huge majority so really isn't it quite nasty of the House Republicans to continue to resort to name calling games - as the party of Bush has been banished for good reason, it isn't Nancy's problem. The GOP House Republicans are basically irrelevant - so play nice or don't play at all. It's up to Republicans to do that and not Nancy Pelosi's issue.

Now would be a good time for some old fashion, economic revival in Martin Luther King, Jr style of righteous indignation. Obama should let loose, in stronger terms that he did in the WaPo today. Republicans are clearly NOT interested in bipartisanship, but instead only in Rush Limbaugh style exploiting BS alone.

Pat Buchanan illustrates this clearly in his latest column.

FDR exploited the Depression to launch his New Deal, bring an end to a Republican hegemony of seven decades and make Democrats the majority party, until Richard Nixon picked the lock. While the debate is endless over whether the New Deal ended the Depression or caused it to endure until World War II spending pulled us out of the ditch, few deny that FDR left a monumental legacy.

And that Pat ends with this:

If Obama gets this one wrong, and all this pork and welfare fail to generate real growth, his party could face a wipeout in 2010, and his opportunity could be lost forever. Does he really want to bet the farm on the nag Nancy Pelosi just trotted out of the House?

Obama needs to draw the attention back to himself, as the GOP is trying to demonize Nancy, divide and conquer (not that she hasn't been the coward for far too long), but Nancy shouldn't have to give into a small minority of fringe GOP at all, period. This latest dust up isn't about Nancy, it's about the GOP continuing to play ugly games that should have ended when Bush left office. Obama will need to use his high poll numbers, use that capital or lose it as Republicans chip away at it, so long as Obama pretends that the GOP is interested in bipartisanship. They aren't.

Rep: Barney Frank: ""Barack Obama has this desire to be widely liked way more than is helpful. He should look to Franklin Roosevelt, who said he 'welcomed their [Republican] hatred'. We have real differences with the Republicans and, like FDR, we should draw the line."

We're done with the GOP's nasty games and we can't afford to play those games anymore. So now, Obama needs to say so in no uncertain terms. The GOP in the house has problems all right, but it's THEIR PROBLEM. It's time for Obama to Party like it's 1933.

Daschle: "Please don't call me an Obstructionist"

Former Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle is a former senator for good reason, because Americans gave him the boot. When it came time for re-election angry voters didn't show up to vote for him at all - left him to the Republican wolves.

Now, I think it's time that Mr. Daschle had the decency to do what New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson did, withdraw his nomination, and failing that, Barak Obama should ask him to resign his nomination.

Thomas A. Daschle, fighting to defend his nomination to be secretary of health and human services, released a letter early today apologizing to the top lawmakers on the Senate Finance Committee for mistakes on his personal income tax returns that resulted in $146,000 in back payments.

When will our esteemed celebrity members of today's corporate owned press going to ask Obama about the "change we can believe in" with this pick for secretary of health and human services? We should have listen to Paul Krugman, as he did try to warn us about Obama, particularly when it came to health care issues? As we can see, Obama speaks more and more with a forked tongue. Promises are everything and actions are none. If Obama is wise he would have learned a lesson from Daschle's demise. A lesson that if Obama disappoints those faceless donors, they will fed him to Republicans and we know that Republicans have no mercy. Republicans don't want to be bipartisan and they are not Obama's friends, even as Obama wants to pretend they are. Obama will either serve the American people or he'll serve Republicans and himself, but he can't do both. Obama wants to be like Tom Daschle, pretend the American people won't notice the spinelessness, the double talk, the sell outs and therefore talks big but does nothing. If Obama doesn't find his spine fairly soon, it's going to be a short, ugly and bitter four years.

Daschle has stored up a lot of goodwill during his years on Capitol Hill. And Obama is riding the crest of a honeymoon of public support. Still, as Arizona Republican Jon Kyl said the other day, "I just wonder if President Bush had nominated these people, what folks would be saying about that."

Sen. Jon Kyl knows exactly what people would say, something like "heckuva job Brownie" and that's not to mention what people said about Rummy and Gonso too, but then again, Kyl does have a grinning Wolfe like Republican point here. We, the people know about the kind of goodwill that Daschle stored up on Capitol Hill, thanks to liberal news blogger Glenn Greenwald, for all that liberal news that Americans can't seem to find in today's corporate owned media, the very truth itself. So Obama is indeed, riding a crest of a honeymoon of public support, a crest that will no doubt, start to receded. Than the Kyl Wolfe gang will start to move in, and the netroot people will be saying, will Jon Kyl is basically right, you know. Like how it was true that John Kerry really did flip-flop on that war issue.

It's like the FISA Bill lie over and over and over again, yeah, too bad, but it's not like we voters didn't see it coming I guess, or that we had any real choice between McCain vs Obama. Obama is an empty shirt that tries to please everyone but please nobody. This soap opera is getting rather sick and twisted right now as the worm turns in Washington DC.

GOP Stimulus Bill for the RICH?

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to fix the bill.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said he doubted the economic stimulus bill can pass the Senate in its current form. He said the bill needs to "put lead on the target immediately" with a specific focus on the housing sector and tax relief.

Okay, he's right, we need to dump the adjustable rate mortgage for GOOD, and really, Obama talks about the middle class all the time, but what about the poor? The poor working class Americans could REALLY use a bigger tax break right now so we should give it too them. Ye happy yet Mitch?

Somehow, I bet not!

Because we all know that Mitch really ONLY wants tax relief for his rich friends, don't we? Otherwise we can all brace for another round of lay-offs if we don't give into the Bush Mob Administration again, Bush is gone but still not out of office yet. It isn't Bush - it's the GOP that help Bush drive the country belly-up.

The Republicans do have one idea, of course, but it’s hardly fresh: more and bigger tax cuts, particularly for business and the well-off. That’s the sum of their “alternative” stimulus plan. Obama has tried to accommodate this panacea, perhaps to a fault. Mainstream economists in both parties believe that tax cuts in the stimulus package will deliver far less bang for the buck than, say, infrastructure spending. The tax-cut stimulus embraced a year ago by the G.O.P. induced next-to-no consumer spending as Americans merely banked the savings or paid down debt.

Mitch McConnell and Republicans want one thing and one thing ONLY - a big tax cut for their rich friends and this is the ONLY reason why Republicans have become the Party of NO. Tax cuts for big business and the wealthy is the ONLY reason Republicans are ganging up to hold the Stimulus Bill hostage, and therefore the American people hostage to the GOP's lobbyiest representatives for exactly the same kind of Wall Street crooks that have given themselves TARP bonus.

Really!

The Ronald Reagan I remember would NEVER dream of bailing anyone out and would never have created a stimulus bill no matter how bad ecomonic times got.

So, Broder sure bought into the kool-aid, didn't he?

Nothing was more central to his victory last fall than his claim that he could break the partisan gridlock in Washington. He wants to be like Ronald Reagan, steering his first economic measures through a Democratic House in 1981, not Bill Clinton, passing his first budget in 1993 without a single Republican vote.

The first way leads to long-term success; the second foretells the early loss of control.

Gosh darn, it always the sex thing with the Repugs and their armchair pundits as oppose to the criminal acts of wiretapping, torture, those un-bid contacts and all the HUGE lies about an oil war in Iraq that the Broderetts of our media world are utterly indifferent too. If Bill Clinton hadn't pardon Marc Rich, Bill Clinton's mug would most likely be on the face of American currency today, that is how much Americans really valued Clinton, that he actually serve American rather that himself, unlike the way Republican politicans do it everytime they get into office. So minus the sex thing, I'm sure Obama would love to have a Clinton like legacy, even as I know such a thought would really chap Broder's hide?

The only thing Repugs want in that stimulus bill is a great big tax cut give-away to their corporate pay masters, a big tax break in exchange for big campaign money, otherwise Repugs might go out of business, go extinct as it were.

It must be unbearable to Broder that all those "foul-mouth" lefty bloggers became the huge "faceless donors" behind the Obama campaign fund, making it hard for corporate controlled Repugs to compete, especially in a slow economy. Thus is the reason for the latest Repug isolationist temper tantrum, because Repugs might go extinct if they don't get corporate funding, so they band together to try to enforce their corporate greed policies. It is a desperate survival act, the GOP is that close to demise, really. This is why Obama made the "mistake" of pointing to Rush Limbaugh as the head of the Republican Party, (a card trick, really) and as long as Obama doesn't cave to tax-cuts for the wealthy, and plays his political cards just right, Dems might not have to worry about Repugs at all by 2010, especially if the economy doesn't pick up, and with Repugs whinning and fighting the Stimulus Bill, the economy probably won't pick-up. A lesson on how to starve the GOP 101.

Now it's looking more and more like a Sarah Palin far-right radical third party type future for Repugs. I'm just wondering how well funded Sarah Palin's Neiman Marcus war chest will be in 2012? AND, I have to wonder too, what takes on the future of the GOP Mr. Broder will write about once he figures out that Barack Obama doesn't want to be the second coming of Ronald Reagan at all? I'm sure it'll read just like the funny papers, I can't wait because I could really use a good laugh, especially after what the Bush Administration did to this country, all whilst Broder harped on about those foul-mouth lefty bloggers.

The GOP wanted to asked the public if Obama was indeed too "White too be Black" so I'm just asking "is Steele too white to be black" working for the GOP in a rather questionable capacity? In the RNC, symbolism is everything from lapel pins to bibles so I wonder if they pick Steele exclusively by race to go up against Obama. the GOP seems to want Steele to attack Obama while avoiding being called a racist. It's the kind of appearence I'm think the GOP fears most from the left. Okay fine, but then we should ask, is Steele simply the GOP's pit-bull dog asking his boss man how to go about trashing Obama, I mean it does look rather like that is their whole intention?

HOUSTON - Exxon Mobil Corp. on Friday reported a profit of $45.2 billion for 2008, breaking its own record for a U.S. company, even as its fourth-quarter earnings fell 33 percent from a year ago.

The previous record for annual profit was $40.6 billion, which the world's largest publicly traded oil company set in 2007.

The difference between Clinton's Administration and Obama's is that when Clinton took office, Western oil companies had fallen into business oblivion and the nation was receiving all it's energy needs from foreign countries for a fair price. This happened to be the reason why the nation prospered under Clinton's term in office. Domestic oil companies were not the global threat that they are now, even as Western oil companies had tried domination in the 70's. We, Americans can’t have a recovery with big oil dominating the entire economy and thus, calling all the shots, because than, nobody else can make a profit except for oil companies.

Already, haven't we seen what happens when banks get into the same big oil like-minded act of price gouging with those adjustable rate mortgages that are exactly like adjustable rate oil prices, volatile and destructive in exactly the same way? It is time to stop talking about "our economic security" and start talking about liberation, liberation from big oil's economic servitude, that which is slavery by any other name. It is time to scheme in order to supplant our bloody dictator, big oil. Personally, I would like to see a vehicle that never, ever has to stop at another ExxonMobil gas station again, and really, shouldn't we all want one of those. We had Bush's ugly supply side, his and the GOP's cap less price gouging that, in the end, broke the banks, broke the nation, so now isn't it time for demand, the demand of new paradigms, an economy without big oil in the equation anywhere at all? Sure it is, sure it is.

Rachel Maddow and Carl Bernstein

None of the netroot blogs of note have made any comments about this awful interview between Rachel Maddow and Carl Bernstein so I thought I'd say a few words myself. Like for instance, what I think is most notable about Bernstein comments is his requirement that this whistleblower, the former NSA agent Russell Tice, (not a hidden questionable whistleblower like Deep Throat, mind you,) is somehow not to be taken seriously or is basically uninformed about what he is saying or finally that congress was spineless - didn't do it's job, so therefore whatever Mr. Tice's claims should simply be dismissed outright because that isn't a reporters job to do what congress failed to do. Rachel Maddow is no journalist really, so she failed utterly to asked the right questions with this interview. Carl Bernstein is also holding his fellow journalist to a far higher standard then he held himself during the Watergate stories of Ricard Nixon's Presidency.

Russell Tice's report states thus:

Former National Security Agency analyst Russell Tice, who helped expose the NSA's warrantless wiretapping in December 2005, has now come forward with even more startling allegations. Tice told MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on Wednesday that the programs that spied on Americans were not only much broader than previously acknowledged but specifically targeted journalists.

Now, I would think that any reasonable journalist might be truly alarmed by the claims coming from Mr. Tice, so Mr. Bernstein's indifference is quite shocking, really. If indeed today's journalist are at all interested in protecting their sources as well as themselves in the profession, why then wouldn't they demand to know the truth from the Bush Administration? But oh no, can't have that, unlike Bernstein did with his source, when Deep Throat started talking about the Watergate story way back when journalist used to do their jobs and wanted to find the truth by demanding that the President answer questions, nope, none of type of journalsim now a days. I'm fairly sure that Mr. Tice must be Dana Priest's source for her wiretapping story, so when are we going to throw Dana overboard for not vetting Russell Tice thoroughly the way Bernstein explains it on the Rachel Maddow Show, and before Maddow can jump to any conclusions about the reliability of Russell Tice’s claims?

If congress didn't do it's job, as Bernsteins iterates here in this video, it is only because today's journalist don't do theirs. Anymore don't we need a lawyer like Patrick Fitzgerald to throw a few journalists in jail to get at the facts that today's press members feel no responsibility whatsoever to find. Congress doesn't have a spine because our press members don't have one either, and thus fail to back up any investigation of the Bush Administration that congress might undertake if a press existed that kept the public informed about the truth, which we clearly do not have any longer.

People, the wiretapping story can't get much uglier than it is right now. And, sadly there does not seem to be a single journalist out there that cares enough about the safety of his/her source or his/her own safety to be bothered with Mr. Russell Tice’s alarming news.

I'm also wonder why it is that ever since the Russell Tice came forward with his claims, Salon columnist and Constitutional Lawyer, Glenn Greenwald has not written a word about Tice's admission either? What gives, what gives???

Dahlia Lithwick's Slate article starts out thus:

Javaid Iqbal is a former cable installer and Pakistani citizen who was swept up along with more than 700 Muslim and Arab men in the massive post-9/11 terrorism dragnet. Not one of them was ever charged with terrorism-related crimes. Some of those deemed, like Iqbal, to be of "high interest" were detained under a "hold until cleared" policy at a high-security facility in Brooklyn. Iqbal claims that during 150 days of detention based solely on his religion and national origin, he was subject to solitary confinement, repeated cavity searches, denied medical care, and brutally beaten. He pleaded guilty to immigration charges (unrelated to terrorism) and was sent back to Pakistan in 2003. He then sued 34 current and former government officials, right up the chain of command from the prison staff to John Ashcroft and Robert Mueller.

The defense is that John Ashcroft and Robert Muller are to "busy" to stand trail and it's a dismal read of the poison of partisanship that exist in today's US Supreme Court. There is no doubt, at least not to my mind, that if Aschoft or Mueller were associated with the Democrat Party rather than the Republican one, than US citizens would see those same, so-called conservative ideologist whom park their collective partisan butts in our nation's highest court, suddenly employ their strict constructionism legal standards to the current legal case that Dahlia is reporting here in her latest Slate column. It isn't Democrats that are above the law, it's only Republicans that have that right.

John Aschoft once talked about those "phantoms of lost liberty", but with Cheney's resent admission of torture (and waterboarding IS torture according to past legal cases), and the very real act of the Bush Administration and telecom's wiretapping along with the recent FISA Court's claim that oversight of Bush's wiretapping was not necessary, than lost liberty is not "phantoms" at all, but as real as the buckshot from Dick Cheney's gun that struck 78-year-old Harry Whittington in the face on Feb 13, 2006.

Today's Republican Party is a corrupt sickness so vast that I wonder how it is than anyone can ever vote Republican again if they value liberty. The chairman of the panel probing the Sept. 11 attacks says they could have and should have been prevented, and he's pointing fingers at the Bush administration.

Those are the words that will live in infamy for all time. There wasn't a second 9/11? That's obviously true, but it misses the point. First, we must remember that Al Qaeda terrorists are patient, deliberate planners who often wait years between strikes. Second, there was the first 9/11 - and it happened on Bush's watch. Without rehashing the entire 9/11 Commission Report, the historical record is pretty clear by now that Bush did virtually nothing about the repeated warnings to him that those cataclysmic attacks were coming. Unfortunately, I can personally attest to that as well.

Bush saved American lives? Tell that to the families of the 4,200 U.S. military personnel who have perished in the needless war in Iraq. While they served heroically and deserve the great thanks of the American people, the tragic truth is that they were engaged in a war we should not have been fighting and which was sold to the Congress, the media and American people with exaggerated and even false claims.

There will never be legal closure on the many crimes committed during the Bush Administration, and thus, the Obama's Administration is going to be plagued by the fact that Obama appears to rather liked all of Bush criminal policies, and thus, entirely plans on the continued use of the Bush Administrations many lies and deceitful strategies. It's beginning to look like business as usual.

Jeebus, why not just appoint Al From and get it over with? Obama is not "change you can believe in" at all, as Obama is merely the same, corrupt, flip side of the Republican Party. Obama is lossing me here and others too, as change is coming from Obama, it isn't coming at all, not with this his latest crap and I'm no Dem myself, so it isn't about "reaching across any partisan aisles - that as always is BIGGEST lie. Can we not see why Obama lied about the FISA Bill and will continue to LIE to the American people, because corporations come first, you know it, the telecoms did, and big oil will too, because Obama is a DLC Dem - or a criminal politican by any other name, same as Bush and Cheney, and thus, Obama will lie to the average American, just like the Bushies did and he is going to use all of Bushies cheezy lines to do it too, don't you just know it.

So it happened that the White House (and most of the press corps) passed over in public silence a key paragraph in the recently concluded U.S.-Iraqi agreement on the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq.

Article 26, section 3 of that agreement reads as follows: "Consistent with a letter from the President of the United States to be sent to the Prime Minister of Iraq, the United States remains committed to assist Iraq in connection with its request that the U.N. Security Council extend the protections and other arrangements established in Resolution 1483 (2003) and Resolution 1546 (2003) for petroleum, petroleum products, and natural gas originating in Iraq, proceeds and obligations from the sale thereof, and the Development Fund for Iraq."

On Dec. 7, 2008, barely a week after the Iraqi Parliament approved the withdrawal agreement, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki wrote the U.N. Security Council requesting the mentioned extension; and on Dec. 22, in the news trough before Christmas, the Security Council granted it. But what does the extension really mean?

It means on the surface that Iraq will enjoy only partial control over its key national asset for another year, but it means as well that no one really knows who will end up with prime access to the world's second- or third-largest oil reserves.

Hillary has one year to save those Western oil contracts and Obama won't get the help of the UN or NATO anymore than big time liar, George W. Bush did because Obama will continue the very same lies about Iraqi democracy that Dubya did. Perhaps Obama is a moderate form of organized, syndicated criminal behavior but he is STILL very much a CRIMINAL who fully intends to act in a criminal capacity – we are still looking at mob control in the Office of President of US. Nothing changed except the label.

This all makes me wonder if Illinois Governor Blagojevich isn't actually being railroaded? I mean WHY can't Barack Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel (aka, Karl Rove the II) be subject to a subpoena in the pending impeachment of Gov. Blagojevich? Is Patrick Fitzgerald REALLY a non-partisan attorney because I'm really beginning to wonder about Fitz and how that lawyer wouldn't dream of sparimg Ms. Judith Miller as a witness but somehow doesn't want a peep out of Emanuel to ruin his investigation? It seems that even the legal scholar Johnathan Turley is wonder why the Dems don't seat Roland Burris? Must be because Burris isn't a DLC Democrat like what Obama really wanted in his stead? I mean, seeing as how much Obama couldn't wait to be rid of Howard Dean, perhaps poor old Gov. Blago just isn't corrupt enough for the DLC Dems, so Obama got Fitz to play a little game of entrapment. Something fishy is sure hell going on with that crap.

Something tells me, Gov. Blago isn't going anywhere and Obama is about to be as passonately HATED as George W. Bushie ever was, all the historic la la la about being the first color Preznut aside, Martin Luther King did say something about content of character after all. It seems Gov. The Democratic Party continually insist on weak, meek non-leadership and thus David Gregory on Meet the Press had a good old lynching party with the aging majority leader last Sunday.

If the Democratic Party truly wants to accomplish ANY of Obama's campaign goals and policies, than the Democratic Party needs to elect a stronger leader than Harry Reid. The Dems need to pick a majority leader who has better communcations skills, who is more outspoken with a more determined type of character, like Chris Dodd for instance. Harry Reid only knows how to stammer about and defer to the will of Republicans time and again, even when his own party is in control of the Senate. Reid has been utterly incapable of demonstrating any substantial backbone, which will be absolutely necessary to accomplish any of Obama’s new policies in the short window of opportunity that Obama might get at the beginning of his new term in office.

Harry Reid certainly knows how to turn tail and run everytime the going gets tough. So frankly, Obama is going to be an ineffectual 44th President if the Democrats fail to find some way to ask Reid to step aside. Senator Reid has far too many limitions as his Meet the Press appearance so clearly demonstrated. Reid weakness is going to cost Barack Obama his ability to get things done and thus Obama's legacy might well end in just four short years. I don't know why Dems love weak leaders, who consistently demostrate poor commucations skills and genuine lack of backbone as both Harry Reid and Tom Daschle have flagrantly exhibited during their terms as majority leaders. Such cowardice has truly cost the Party some sever losses in the past, not only for themselves but for the people of this nation as well.

This was supposed to be a year of triumphs for Reid. Bolstered by the addition of at least seven Democrats to his caucus and an incoming Democratic president, Reid enjoys a stronger hand than any Senate leader in almost 30 years.

Yes, Reid enjoys a stronger hand than any Senate leader in almost 30 years, but even with that all power, Reid will never be up to task at hand. If the Obama Administration insist on standing on principle, and that, for whatever reason, the Dems simply can't bring themselves to replace Sen. Harry Reid, nothing worthwhile will ever be accomplished during Obama's entire time in office. The nation may want change but Harry Reid is always going to be too timid and lethargic to push for that change, as Reid has NEVER stood his ground since becoming majority leader, so this isn't something that Reid is going to start doing now, either. One of the Democrats biggest problems right now is a real and desperate need for strong communcation skills and finding someone with the determination to get things done.

I have wonder why Obama wanted Howard Dean to leave the DNC (strong leadership) but still want Harry Reid around (weak leadership). Is it because Obama is all talk and no do and intends to be NO DO during his entire time in office? Why did Obama get rid of Howard Dean and yet show no interested in finding decent leadership for the US Senate before his term? This truly begs the question of if Obama's "change" is nothing more than a spin doctored meme designed to buy votes and nothing else? So far Barack seems like he is only interested in as big a fig leaf to the public as the Bush Administration used with all the hyped up talkd of WMD, mushroom clouds and aluminum tubes to promote a lied about war in Iraq.

Why is Repug leaning, trash talking Chris Cillizza being aloud to spew his opinion on MSNBC Countdown with Keith Olbermann? Cillizza is trash talking the legal process of the recount, stating that Al Franken’s lawyer is an "ace". So I guess this implies that Norm Coleman's lawyer must have been poor legal representation, right? I wonder if Coleman's attorney finds Cillizza insinuations offensive because Coleman’s lawyer apparently was incompetent legal counsel next to Al Franken's "ace" of a lawyer?

Now, I realize that Keith Olbermann is nothing more than another hype program, a sort-of flip side of FOX News and therefore not real news per say, but this crapshoot from partisan extraordinaire, Chris Cillizza is being substituted for news and does so in such a destructive manner that it really crosses the line. The question that needs to be asked is why would Norm Coleman go out and hire himself an incompetent lawyer? The fact that Cillizza feels that Franken hired an "ace" lawyer while Coleman didn't hire a qualified lawyer is simply opinionated, partisan rubbish. I'm sure Coleman's lawyer would find Cillizza's words insulting not only to himself but the firm who hires him. What is Chris Cillizza hoping the Minnesota Supreme Court will do? We know the Court wouldn't rule that Norm Coleman had an incompetent lawyer and therefore Franken can't win the recount? It is clear that Mr. Cillizza has no faith in the US legal system, BUT don't we all KNOW that that arm-chair pundit, Mr. Cillizza is merely making things up like "ace" lawyer and even when Cillizza is implying that there is always the "uncouth legal business of lawyers" simply because the court failed to rule in Republican favor - because then, at least with Republicans and their pundits, all the fault is either those "activist judges" and now it's an unfair “ace” lawyer advantage that is representing Democrats who use “underhanded” tactics in the legal process. I'm sick of garbage talk being substituted for news that has no bearing whatsoever on reality. The WaPo is making good on slanting the news for it's mob owned corporate proprietors.

Although Franken trailed Coleman on election night, the Democrat -- thanks in part to the ace work of election lawyer Marc Elias -- has gained steadily ever since. A hand recount of the nearly 3 million ballots cast turned the race into a dead heat, and the recent counting of 933 wrongly rejected absentee ballots (don't ask) yielded a 225-vote edge for Franken heading into today's meeting of the state Canvassing Board, in which a winner -- presumably Franken -- will be named.

So, why won't Franken be a senator later today? Because of pending legal challenges that the incumbent's campaign thinks can sway the outcome -- the most important of which, dealing with the inclusion of 654 allegedly wrongly rejected absentee ballots (from largely pro-Coleman territory), will be decided by the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Now we can see an example of what Republican slant does to the news. Chris Cillizza and Paul Kane slant the news to suggest that Franken's lawyer is "underhanded" and that poor Coleman's didn't have an equally confident attorney. And what about that addied (don't ask) to suggest unorthodox counting of absentee ballots? This is what Americans must deal with in a world where the national press is owned by the mob, the same mob behind all of Bush and Cheney's criminal activities. The WaPo is doing something no honorable, professional newspaper should be doing - slanting the news in favor of one political party over another, intended on making Democrats look sleazy, underhanded and corrupt, but certainly after Bush's criminal reign in office - the exact opposite is true. The future is NOT "Drill, Baby, Drill" or invade the Mideast either, but rather "Innovate, Baby, Innovate." That is the only direction that can save our planet and thus save ourselves, as well as our US economy from Big Oil's massive grave-yard plan that is being premeditated for all of humanity. If Obama chooses war with the Mideast - than it is Armageddon as surely the Mideast will acquire nuclear weapons, and NO American citizen will pull with Obama on questionable wars anymore than they did for Bush, but a war with ExxonMobil, BP and all of Western Big Oil Corporations is the ONLY war Americans will pull together on. Some members of Congress had criticized the chief executives for traveling to the first set of hearings by corporate jet. Company spokespeople for Nardelli and GM chief executive G. Richard Wagoner Jr. said the top executives would not fly on company planes this time, but they would not disclose the mode of travel.

Nope, we stupid taxpayers just need to shut-up and hand over the money, it's none of business what Wagoner does as king of GM. Mr. Wagoner, once again shows us why GM is in such a bad way, and why bailout is very bad idea for these guys. If only we could replace some of them before the bailout.

Here's where the rubber hits the road. The Status of Forces Agreement just approved by the Iraqi Parliament calls for all U.S. troops to leave Iraq by December 2011. (It's possible they mey even have to leave by May 2010.) Not combat troops, all troops -- no residual force.
Obama hasn't said exactly what he makes of the deal, but since it does nothing but take a massive controversy off his plate, it's difficult to see why he'd oppose it.

The whole world is watching with baited breath to see exactly how Barack Obama responses to the mess in Iraq. Any attempt to defy the will of the Iraqi people will say volumes about who Obama really is, if Obama is going to try to save big oil or do the will of American voters instead of merely lying, the way Obama did with that FISA Bill. This Iraq mess shows the deep, permanent harm the Bush Administration wrought to Western Oil and their global brand names, but Bush/Cheney were big oil's representatives so big oil can hardly complain about the global hell-hole they're in right now.

With that said, it well soon be obvious why Obama pick Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State. Iraq Shell Oil Contract on the Rocks

A spokesman for the Oil Ministry, Asim Jihad, said the committee had no legal basis to challenge the deal, which Shell says gives exclusive rights to the joint venture to all natural gas collected as a by-product of oil production in Basra fields.

"Shell will be the sole company entitled to deal or process gas in southern Iraq," the statement said. "We call this a monopoly on Iraqi gas ... Shell will seize everything."

It added that if Oil Minister Hussain Shahristani does not respond to their complaint, "we will resort to the constitution and adopt procedures ... to safeguard Iraqi resources".

Bush has been quoted this holiday weekend as saying that he "liberated Iraq". Bush says this even as he holds Iraq oil money hostage in an attempt to intimidate Iraqis into unfair oil contracts. This time-limited act of extortion is sure to fail as Americans are in no mood for a second civil war in Iraq nor do we have the resources for a second surge of US forces in Iraq either.

Robert Baer, a former CIA Officer has written a new book in which he makes the following admissions.

Baer sides with those who advocate negotiation rather than confrontation with Iran. He seems to believe that a long-term deal with Iran is possible. In exchange for good behavior, he suggests, the United States should give Iran security guarantees, establish joint patrols in the Persian Gulf, grant Iran a security role in Iraq and Afghanistan, and remove the rationale for Iranian meddling by settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

And this striking comment.

"----- On almost every page of his book, he bombards the reader with the verbal equivalent of shock and awe. "Iraq is lost. Iran won it," he writes. "Iran's empire is already half built; we can't stop it now short of starting World War III."

This is how Bush lost the war in Iraq, because he "liberated Iraqis" on a complete and total falsehood of democracy as it wasn't actually about liberation but oil control, and thus, it shows how incredibly stupid the Bush Administration's gamble has been. This gamble that has thrown everything into Iran's ball court because of this colossal lied about war. Perchance Bush stupidly thought a democratic Iraq would gratefully hand-over control of all it’s oil resources, showing thus, the Bush Administration enormous stupidity and incompetence. Who knows, maybe God made Bush do it?

Joseph Stiglitz, the Nobel-winning economist has this to say about the Bush Administration.

Q. Who was at fault for the crisis? Who was asleep at the switch? Were the indicators already visible in the 1997-98 financial crises? Could more monitoring have averted the problem? Are derivatives markets still viable?

A. This is a man-made crisis. It didn’t have to happen. It was the result of macro-economic policies in the United States – in particular, a tax cut for the rich which did not stimulate
the economy – combined with the Iraqi war, which led to soaring oil prices. These put the burden of keeping the economy going on monetary policy. The Federal Reserve responded in a shortsighted way: it provided ample credit with low interest rates. Combined with lax regulations, it was an explosive mixture – and it exploded.

In a nutshell - its all the Bush Administration's fault, completely the Bush Administration's fault for the loss of everything, including oil resources in the Mideast. A bunch of corrupt, utterly stupid guys got into office, destroyed the US economy and lost control of all the Mideast oil. I wonder if the realization of what happened has truly hit the halls of ExxonMobil and BP's corporate global agenda vision department? The fact that big oil is totally screwed this Thanksgiving weekend - thanks to Bush for having truly liberating Iraq, losing control of the entire Mideast oil resource. We are well on our bloody way to a renewable energy future, and those Big 3 automakers should plan on bankruptcy a few years from now if they can't find away around fossil fuel powered vehicles. Nobody is going to give them a bailout forever.

Saudi Arabia wants oil prices at $75 a barrel

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- Saudi Arabia said Saturday that it hoped to raise oil prices to $75 a barrel, but indicated that no measures would probably be taken until an OPEC meeting next month in Algeria.

Saudi Oil Minister Ali Naimi said that OPEC will "do what needs to be done" to shore up falling oil prices when the cartel meets next month in Algeria, even as his king told a Kuwaiti newspaper that $75 a barrel was a fair price for oil.

It should be interesting to note that when Bush took office, the Saudi's were happy with $ 22 a barrel and reported that fact to the news. It was Bush that wanted to see the oil price really bloom, and thus create a fake oil crisis. Bush and the GOP have brought the nation to the doorstep of economic ruin with deregulation and oil price gouging so I very much doubt that $ 75 a barrel for crude right now would help the US economy, rather than further damaging the financial system.

The UK's Telegraph is reporting that Russia may join OPEC.

Other new sources of oil include the Canadian tar sands in Alberta. This oil also costs significantly more to turn into crude than traditional sources – maybe as much as $75-$80 a barrel. This is because the tar sands are extremely viscous. They do not flow like normal oil, so they have to be strip-mined or injected with steam. This uses significantly more energy and water.

So, with the oil price now at $54, many producers will be feeling severe pain – especially when they have become accustomed to receiving massive piles of petrodollars throughout the oil price spike.

According to research by Deutsche Bank, Venezuela needs to see oil at $95 a barrel to balance its current account. Saudi Arabia needs oil at $55. The falling oil price is also crippling the Russian economy, so much so that the country may even start co-operating with OPEC in a formal basis.

Russia may end up using the Euro too, as a basis of funding for whatever new alliance they make with Mideast oil price fixing endeavors. And of course, wherever price fixing is found, there is now a growing piracy problem too.

"---- The Liberian-flagged Sirius Star, one in a class of ships that stretch longer than three football fields and can carry 2 million barrels of oil, is also the largest vessel yet to be attacked by pirates, said Navy Lt. Nathan Christensen of the U.S. 5th Fleet."

It all seems to come down to one of two events that will happen during Barack Obama's term in office, either gasoline price gouging will continue, causing the US to fall deeper into depression or we'll go back to buying cheap Mideast oil like we did during the Clinton Administration. Personally, I think that depression maybe the only key to moving the nation away from fossil fuel dependence for good, as adversity is often the mother of invention. And, as we've already seen, Obama talks big about his plans however he has shown a striking enablity to actually stand up to corporations. There is no middle ground in this area, as Barack will either do it or he will not do it. Obama is a gifted speaker, although I'm afraid that Obama has no fortitude to actually accomplish anything he promises to do. The FISA Bill was all anyone needed to see, to understand that Obama, like Bush, will give corporations whatever they want, and then lie to the American people about what he is doing.

Bush is On Vacation Again

If terrorist want to be successful at whatever they do, they merely need to wait till Bush has no inclination to deal with the problem at hand, like when he goes on holiday at Camp David. On this Turkey-day weekend, Bush would NEVER dream of getting off his lazy, worthless ass, push his chair away from the table, as we all know, Junior is far too busy eating turkey (and drinking himself under the table, I'm sure) to bother to care enough to reacting to what is happening in Mumbai, India as the death toll grows to 143 on day three of Bush's lame excuses for all his horrible last eight years in office.

It's like Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 all over again, as little Bushie never quits doing nothing, in his nothing-doing kind of way of being Preznut for the last eight years.

As the terror attacks in Mumbai stretch into a third day, Indian army troops and police have launched several raids at two hotels and a Jewish center in the heart of the city to root out the militants and free hostages. So far, the wave of attacks has left at least 140 people dead and more than 300 injured. Raymond Thibodeaux has this report from Mumbai.

Police at the Trident-Oberoi Hotel say at least 93 hostages have been freed so far. Many of them have been loaded onto waiting buses and driven to an undisclosed location. No one knows for sure how many guests and how many gunmen remain in the building.

Impeachment was OFF THE TABLE and people, including many Americans, have to die during Bush's do nothing holiday time. So I wonder if this fact ever haunts Ms. "Know your Power" Nancy Pelosi at night too, knowing that all of Bush's sins are Ms. Pelosi's sins as well, and seeing as how doing nothing is as much a key component of her style of leadership too?

Maybe Barack Obama should say something now, should do something? I mean, knowing full well that little Bushie won't do anything at all and Obama did say he would go after bin Ladin if he had actionable intelligence? Or is it just not our President-elects place to stop the killing either, ringing in the holidays in exactly the same way Bushie does it, year in, year out? Indian forces kill last gunmen in Mumbai

MUMBAI, India (AP) — A 60-hour terror rampage that killed at least 195 people across India's financial capital ended Saturday when commandos killed the last three gunmen inside a luxury hotel while it was engulfed in flames.

Authorities searched for any remaining captives hiding in their rooms and began to shift their focus to who was behind the attacks, which killed 18 foreigners including six Americans.

It's great that India brought this terrorist act to a close, but they certainly could used help from US specialist, so too bad Bush was on vacation, and we know that Bush wouldn't anything anyway if it had been an average working weekday.

Lyndon Johnson and Ronald Reagan certainly not intellectuals, but they understood the power of the presidency and they knew how to impose their agendas on their political partners and rivals.

By contrast, Jimmy Carter was a whiz at policy analysis and Bill Clinton grasped the connections among issues almost intuitively. Yet neither of them left the White House with a record of great achievements.

Carter said he would never lie to the American people and he never did lie to US citizens, but as we all know, honesty isn't well respected in the halls of Washington D.C. With Bill Clinton there is absolutely no way that Broder can say President Clinton had no record of achievements, when the only thing that really kept Clinton from being one of the most honor Presidents in recent history was his Marc Rich pardon at the end of last term in office. That said, I think David Broder and David Brooks are the quite the pair. Anymore, one would has to be a truly ugly person to even want to consider them self a member of the Republican Party, because if there were any decency in the Republican Party that exist today, than Republicans would have impeached Bush and Cheney themselves without waiting to see if Democrats would act.

Iraq has decided to put oil control to a national referendum in the form of "further US occupation" - be it okay or not okay? We already know how overwhelming that vote will be, right? God knows big oil ain't going to like that kind of vote, THUS, we see the problem with lied about wars. If it's democracy in Iraq, then the King of all Preznut Liars, Mr. Bushie can't say much about it, now than can he?

Iraq's parliament will vote soon on a proposed pact with the US that would free the country of foreign occupation within three years. The vote itself is a sign of Iraq's slow progress toward peace, unity, and, most of all, democracy – a rare sight in the Middle East. If ratified, the pact will ease one more burden for the incoming Obama presidency.

Poor little Bushie and his Godfather Dick Cheney, but alas, Halliburton sure got to make a hell of a killing off taxpayer money for a little while during this lied about war in Iraq. We have the Big Three automakers protectionism ruin to bailout because the Big 3 are heavily invested in fossil fuel use but have no fuel to run their wayward technologies, their very oil friendly archaic designs? So, for some archaic reason, Repugs everywhere are rejoicing in the Hillary Clinton's pick for Secretary of State, treating her as the last, best hope for Western Oil Contract futures.

GOP warrior and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich proclaimed her a "very formidable" choice, and Senate Republicans predicted nothing but love for Clinton when her name is submitted for approval.

And then we have "Know your Power" Nancy Pelosi, who doesn't want the hold the Big 3 Automakers accountable, at least not any more accountable than impeachment is OFF the table for Priznut Bushie, and so NO viability or restructuring really need apply, simply the appearance of restructuring and viability only, it's merely an image thing, the appearance of, but nothing else kind of taxpayer money handout. Pelosi is such a losser on so many levels.

Want to bet that GM still won't sale any vehicles after the bailout because American citizens can see the fake band aid being applied to the panic mode of the here and now, and such meaningless schemes says volumes about how Obama pretends to help but doesn't really do anything beyond cheap talk minus any substantive do, limited himself to corporate control of everything, absent real honest kinds of viability. Washington (AP) Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says it's now up to the Bush administration to come up with a solution for the fast-failing U.S. auto industry. He's scrapped plans for a vote on a $25-billion bailout package.

Whatever would Big Oil do if the big 3 went bankrupt? American is far to technically advanced too go back a the horse and buggy era - and don't we all know it. Nope, that wouldn't happen at all, would it? We would have a depression, yes, but what emerge wouldn't use gasoline at all and would be develop from so many small corners of the US in private garages across the nation that big oil couldn't do anything about it? It would bring an end to big oil and fossil fuel dependence as we know it? Incidentally, wouldn't that also save the planet?

So you know, there is no way in HELL Bush would NOT bailout the big 3, because without them, big oil would go bankrupt for good and it would be the death of fossil fuel.

Obama Planning On Staying In Iraq

Obama's honeymoon with press and US citizens might come to an end before the new Prez elect even takes his already broken oath of office. LATimes is reporting on Obama strange new love affair with pro-Iraq war hawks.

The activists are uneasy not only about signs that both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates could be in the Obama Cabinet, but at reports suggesting that several other short-list candidates for top security posts backed the decision to go to war.

Why is Obama tapping Hillary for Secretary of State? Is Obama planning on keep us in the war in Iraq?

Martin said that his group was concerned about Gates and Clinton as well as Rahm Emanuel, Obama's choice for White House chief of staff. He also said his group was trying to mobilize its grass-roots supporters with e-mail alerts, but recognized that it must approach the subject delicately because of public euphoria over Obama's historic victory.

Whether or not the netroots wants to admit it or not, the FISA Bill flip-flop really did nearly cost Obama the election, and eventually Obama even started to beg McCain not too make fun of his "celebrty status" as all signs pointed the fact that Obama was lossing the election. Newsweek showed at one time, that Obama had a 15 point lead over McCain until Obama broke his oath of office over the of support the FISA wiretapping bill. After the FISA campaign lie, Obama would have lost the election and the only thing that reversed his lossing trend was that the Bush Administration suddenly needed an emergency bailout bill for which McCain was at a loss to deal with having been left of the Bush's loop. Now once again, it is looking like Obama lied about getting out of Iraq, the way he lied about the FISA Bill.

Kevin Martin, executive director of the group Peace Action, need not worry too much about the "public euphoria" once Americans realize they been had again by the second president that sees nothing wrong with mega lying to get elected.

Clinton, who was Obama's chief opponent during the Democratic presidential primaries, appears to be the top candidate for secretary of State in his administration. Speculation about Clinton has dismayed some liberal activists but has cheered some conservatives such as former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and editor William Kristol of the Weekly Standard.

I bet even James Baker the III, himself wants Hillary for Secretary of State as there are significant reasons why the right-wings folks like Kristol and Kissinger are cheering Sen. Hillary for the job, because just like the Bushies, the Clintons have become big oil advocates too, which means that Obama doesn't seem to mind big oil control over Americans either. That is the type of euphoria that can pop like a housing bubble with the same disastrous results, as it will make a lot of Americans very, very angery. So once again, Obama is going to make the mistake of not caring what a majority of Americans think, just like how that FISA Bill neverly cost Obama the election. Obama doesn't think there is anything wrong with lying.

Chevrolet Volt: The Car That Was Supposed to Fail

GM is marketing for failure! First they produce a car nobody really wants, the Chevy Volt, than, they call it a failure after the vehicle fails to sell - like we all knew it would fail right from the very beginning, than go right back to fossil fuel favoritism, right back into the pocket of big oil. GM's magical pump jack kiss act done to show the oil gods complete devotion.

This is the number one reason NOT to bail-out GM. The company intentional had NO vision for it's future or for the future of it's employees. GM's money problems have nothing to do with labor unions but everything to do with pushing intentionally bad ideas that squandered company money in order to keep big oil happy. This is a dead end myopic form of slavery.

That said, here we see that George F. Will writes this bullshit column as if on cue, blaming the Chevy Volt on the Labor Unions of all things.

Some opponents of bankruptcy say: GM must not be allowed to fail before it perfects batteries for its electric-powered Volt, which supposedly is a key to the company's resurrection. This vehicle was concocted to serve GM's prolonged attempt to ingratiate itself with the few hundred environmentally obsessed automotive engineers in Congress. They have already voted tax credits of up to $7,500 for purchasers of such cars — bribes that reveal doubts about consumer enthusiasm for them at a price that would reflect cost.
Congress could help the Detroit Three by allowing them, when meeting CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) standards imposed by Congress, to count fuel-efficient cars they import from their overseas factories. Congressional Democrats oppose that because those imports are not made by members of the United Auto Workers. Those Democrats, their rhetoric notwithstanding, really care most about the union. "Saving the planet" comes second and last comes the health of the auto companies.
Some opponents of bankruptcy stress that it might terminate health care coverage enjoyed by UAW retirees who are too young for Medicare. Think about that. If people want to retire before 65, or 35 for that matter, that is their business. But there is no public interest in protecting the luxury of retirement in the prime of life just because in palmy days a private contract between a union and a corporation established it as an entitlement for all seasons.

There was no market for a plug-in car and GM knew that fact even before Volt was nothing more than a scribbled concept drawn on piece of paper. The Chevy Volt has nothing to do with labor unions, but everything to do with GM's mis-management. The Volt was an intentional fielded bad idea that was utterly intended to fail from the start so that Big Oil could claim, "see, nobody wants a plug in car". So, Americans need a new Automaker, one that doesn't cater to big oil's desires to keep consumers dependent on fossil fuel for ever. It is intentional on GM's part to never find their way around Exxon/Mobil or BP, so that in it's self, is reason enough to let GM liquidate and go out of buisiness. And this is reason enought for taxpayers to refuse to bail-out this automaker. GM didn't have any vision on purpose and really nobody should doubt that fact, nobody.

T. Boone Pickens says that trucks will only operate on natural gas, diesel or gasoline but that simply isn't true. T. Boone was on Meet the Press and very noticeable, no other opinion was allowed (so thanks to Tom "broken" Brokaw for all the nothing in journalism standards that jerk continues to do for US citizens) - the forced opinion that it's fossil fuel or nothing else BULLSHIT.

We simply need a combustible source like SALT WATER with a technology that releases oxygen and hydrogen like this video shows - that is all we need to run a combustible engine, and if heavy trains can run on steam engines, (yes, powered by coal burning but still steam powered,) than, why can't we engineer commercial trucks to be powered by other technology? Pickens simply wants to force people into continued fossil fuel dependency. The surcharges from fossil fuel cost, the unpredictable, volatile, unstable cost from price fixing/price gouging by the big oil companies made profit margins impossible for anyone but big oil corporations - so we need either very cheap or even free energy in order to spur real economic growth in this country.

Right before the senior Bush was to lose office, gasoline hit the 1986 all time low of 0.65 cents a gallon - and it was THAT cheap commodity that spurred the amazing economic growth that gave the Clinton Administration his economy boom. Right after 9/11 gasoline fell to $ 1.00 a gallon, once again, American markets showed signs of fast pace growth that saved our economy right after the 9/11 attacks. If we want to jump start the economy, than we need either very inexpensive fuel or FREE energy. Our only path out of the coming depression will be to bury fossil fuel forever. Clinton didn't really promote the economy in the way inexpensive fuel did it for him. SO BEFORE we sign any loans to the big 3 automakers, it's time to force a move-away from big oil tyranny, indeed it is long past time to leave fossil fuel in the ground instead of in our air.

BTW, George F. Will says that the plug in car wasn't marketable and I certainly didn't want a plug in car either so Mr. Will has a point here. George Will said that our government had to offer a rebate program to try and entice consumers to even purchase this undesirable vehicle. GM doesn't care, doesn't seem to be even trying to anticipate the market and still shows no signs of wanting to anticipate the market today, even as GM is on the brink of it's own bankruptcy. Nobody wanted the plug-in Volt, so why was GM trying to promote such a loser idea, spending funds on such a dog of vehicle? Was it because big oil wanted a failed plug-in program to point too, and GM wanted to comply even if they lost money? I mean WTF is going on? There has never been a better time in our history to move away from fossil fuel that right now. If we don't move ahead now, we all fall into depression, a deep and ugly depression and there is no reason to move GM out of bankruptcy status if there is no type of restructuring based on eventual liberation from fossil fuel control.

Obama says Hillary will be tapped for Secretary of State, which of course means that WE WILL NEVER LEAVE IRAQ if those Western oil contract get signed, because we'll need a military base to guard our economic interest.

There is NO doubt too that Iraq is eager to sign contracts with the US, as we do indeed have a oil dependency in this country and Iraq would like nothing better than to further that dependency, same as the Saudis want us always to be dependent on them.

Thus I suppose there will be no need for GM to re-tool for greater oil independence from the Mideast - we won't need re-newable energy if the Clinton's can get Iraq to comply. It was no secret that Bill Clinton was always in lockstep with the Bushies, meanwhile, men who dream of a future with NO fossil fuel dependence are being outright murdered, the kind of murders that happen not just with Bush/Cheney but also with Obama and Clinton's blessings too.

Obama's DLC leanings will indeed lead this nation into ruin. It's not Bush - it's Bush lite and it's uglier than sin and I don't think that in end it will fly, we cannot stay in Iraq. Senator Inouye also echoed the sentiment of legal scholars across the United States saying that Senator Stevens will be vindicated through an appeal.

"As the Senate has done in every other instance in its long 220-year history, I am absolutely confident that Ted Stevens will be sworn into the Senate while he appeals this unjust verdict," said Senator Inouye. "I am certain that this decision in Washington, D.C., will be overturned on appeal."

I don't no about that, as any appeals court is likely to look down right crooked after Ted's shocking evidence of all the gifts that magically appeared due to his favoritism of companies catering to big oil control and associations. Ted shows why Big Oil is such a grievance in world control. Alaskan’s voted their livelihood, but not what was best for our planet or for future of democracy.

I don’t think we want the permafrost melting, because than it may not matter what happens to any of our jobs if we destroy the planet's ozone. If that happens, than what future would we have, what future would our children have? We'll have a lot bigger problems than merely maintaining oilfield related money. That is where we’re at right now, a crossroads so important and life threatening, than unfortunately we may fall into the biggest depression of all time. This is the best reason for Stevens to do jail time, in the name of planet survival. Alaska will need to pick someone else with that particular problem in mind, like it or not. It is time to put big oil out of business for good, and it is long over due to put those dangerous people out of business and control. We can't afford to talk about economy security devoid of long term global impact on human survival.

Indeed, why are American automakers so indifferent to new technology, never developing it on their own?

Why is it that only foreign automakers come up with fuel-cell technology and even water powered cars but American Automakers never have any initiative in the area of new science? GM doesn't have any new direction and only recently wanted to produce a plug-in car so that Americans could be shock by their electric bill as opposed to their gasoline bill - some change, just another money down the drain idea from GM. GM doesn't want to make a profit on it's own but instead use taxpayer money every time the company is about to go belly up. HEY, why not screw over big oil for once? Why not produce vehicles that consumers want for a change that LETS them pocket money that they can spend helping middle income retail business? Why not put the screws to Big Oil in the way Big Oil puts the screws to everyone else? WHY NOT PRODUCE a car that runs on WATER?

Time to tell GM, either you make it or liquidate it pal, sink or swim, if indeed, GM can remember even how to swim in the business world. I'm tired of this shit every five or ten years. Glenn Greenwald and the Netroot Misplaced Reverence for the Clintons

Even as we see that Ted Stevens was given brand new furniture for his house from favortism, Glenn conveniently forgets that the Clintons got a house full of brand new furniture too, plus lots of donated money for Clinton’s law library, but exactly WHERE did Clinton get these favors from? FROM one Marc Rich and his wife, an extraordinary oilman who needed a legal pardon for not paying his taxes, in fact Rich was a 10 most wanted man on the national FBI list, but Clintons didn't see a problem with this political buy off, a favor to themselves as they left office.

Obama was NOT palling around with Ayers in the way the Clintons were palled around with Bushie Senior the entrie last eight years, or, how Bill Clinton lied just like Bush did about WMD in Iraq and pushed pre-emptive war in Iraq too. In fact, I would absolutely say that John Kerry lost the election due to the influence of the oil friendly Clintons, who told Kerry to support the war AFTER Kerry was against the war in Iraq that won him the Dem nomination . It took the wind out of John Kerry’s happy political sails in 2004 as Repugs attacked him for flip-flopping. Kerry didn’t know how to stand up to the nasty Clintons.

Frankly, I'm not sure Obama knows how to be any different then the Clintons with his DLC inclinations? BUT we will all find out soon enough if Obama is any different than the Clintons. After selling out on FISA Bill, how much more is Obama going to back peddle on all his campaign promises or lies?

These things are not equal. They're not even comparable. But in her desperation to establish false equivalencies -- the central article of faith in the modern journalist's religion -- Dowd argues that Clinton dirtied the White House by having oral sex and liking hot tubs and, likewise, George Bush also dirtied it by destroying the Constitution, torturing people, invading and destroying another country based on false pretenses and spying on American citizens (and, just by the way, Bush and Cheney weren't "making torture and domestic spying legal"; they were doing those things in violation of the law).

There is a very BIG reason why nobody wanted Hillary for President but Glenn is so partisan in this regard that I'm sure he will never know why people didn't want Hillary for President. It was all because she had NO intention of getting out of Iraq, not anymore than Bush/McCain would ever have gotten us out of Iraq, so incidentally, this is where Barack Obama better NOT fuck up too. Obama had a 15 point lead once upon a time, over McCain before his fateful corporate only decision to back the FISA Bill and how the same behind the scenes bill started subtracted numbers from Obama's polls. Obama would have lost the election except for the recent crash of our financial system and the bailout. Obama owes his election to hype, nothing more, as independents were about to send Obama back to the Dems, thus telling Dems to try again, see if they can actually find someone honest because Barack Obama isn't it, not after that nasty FISA bill lie that Obama didn't have single problem with, and of course, when Obama takes his new oath of office, it still be a lie, because Obama already broke his oath of office. It should be a very awful moment, in which we all see Barack Obama LIE to everyone including congress.

My prediction is that Obama will win - anything else will be the beginning of civil war in the US.

McCain can't win without a Bush v. Gore redux AND no Obama supporter would tolerate anything less not even for one minute with polls showing Obama over the 5 point lead. My biggest fear is that the ugly Republican jackals will not leave office once voted out-of-office, so ugly have they become since five Supreme Court Justices decided a US President doesn't need "no stinking" voter approval to serve in office for four years, utterly free to ignore a August 6th 2001 intelligence briefing while on vacation, if selected a president wanted to do so.

I had a terrible nightmare a few nights ago, whereby I turned on CNN and (in this dream of my), there was an African American reporter, a lady, who was talking about this terrible tragedy for the nation. I didn't know what she was talking about at first, but than it became appearent that (in my dream) Obama had beeh shot. I'm not making this story up to make a point, I really did have this awful dream. It was a terrible nightmare to say the least, as that's how frantic I am in my own mind to see that a very corrupt pack of Republican Party criminals who have all completely gone around the bend the last few days, be tossed out-of-office as soon as possible. If such an event every came to pass and something happen to Obama, (blamed on McCain/Palin's incitement campaigns, of course) I would have to wonder if Bush would implement martial law immediately as we all know that the Bush Administration is desperate to force those unbid oil contracts on the Iraqi people above all else, and of course, Nancy Pelosi would not dream of taking impeachment off the table, would she, now then? American citizens have all their eggs in Barack Obama's basket right now, and that is terrible place for democracy to hang by such a single thread, a very, very perilous place, indeed.

Well, John McCain removed all doubt this morning on Meet the Press. Just who is this mysterious fifth Secretary of State the endorsed John McCain? McCain can’t remember who that fifth person is, gosh darn it, even as noticeably, Tom Brokaw offered no help at reminding the elder McCain who this unknown fifth Secretary of State actually happens to be, as nobody appears to know who it is? McCain had a very senior, senior moment there and gosh darn it, don't you JUST know that when the Meet the Press transcript finally does come out, our liberal media will either delete that part completely or entirely re-write it. Our corporate media does this time and again for Republican candidates but they NEVER do it for Democrats, NOT EVER. John McCain has a serious problem but no way would Tom Brokaw, not for a single critical minute, consider it his job to inform the American public about the possibility of a serious medical question with regard to John McCain and what Republicans are seriously able to ignore, thanks to our "liberal" media. There is NO DOUBT whatsoever, that if Obama were an aged Democrat having this kind of memory problem of who and who did not actually endorsed him, our "liberal" media would be airing it 24/7, non-stop.

UPDATE: I just reviewed all the videos of Meet the Press for today, and wouldn't you know it, McCain's senior moment is not a recorded part of this mornings interview anymore. It won't be in the transcript either.

UPDATE II: Josh Marshall catches the act on Meet the Press, BUT it isn't the first time McCain's memory failed this particular test. Remember Brian Williams and Chuck Todd of MSNBC interviewed McCain right along beside Palin, and Brian mentioned the Powell endorsement of Obama during the interview, than we see Palin mentioned that McCain had four endorsements of Secretaries of State, but McCain corrected her immediately, saying it was five and proceeded to rattle off the names of only four individuals, and McCain didn't seem to realize he had, indeed, named only four individuals?

Well I guess I'm wrong as here is a transcript I found of Brian Williams interview and I did not hear McCain mention Shultz:

Remember how much everybody hated Al Gore for not winning his home state of Tennessee back in 2000? How awesome would it be if John McCain lost his “home” state of Arizona?

For McCain to campaign in his own state would be rather embarrassing, would it not?

The ex-POW is planning to hide from his own election night party, sort of like how McCain tried to run away and hide from his first debate with Obama. Wonkette says:

The last state poll showed McCain with a 7-point lead in Arizona; that was three weeks ago, on September 30, and was down from a 10-percent lead in August.

It ain't looking good for Mr. McCain and his pitbull VP. All this talk about how Obama wants voters not to become complacent and to get out and vote because everyone will figure Obama has this election in the bag, but what about Republicans who think McCain has utterly lost it, that there is no need to waste time to go elect him? It is those guys that are more likely to simply stay home on election night and not vote at all. Why bother to vote since the polls show defeat for McCain? That GOP says nothing about this?

Friday's Fiscally Un-Conservative Pitbull Palin

It's Friday, or, it was Friday when I started this post.

Anyways, what I wanted to say was this very pricey pitbull of a price tag amount of $ 150,000 for a clotheshorse of a VP pick should be the end of the story of Sarah Palin and her celerity status debut. But in Newsweek, I see this article and I think surely Jonathan Darman must be kidding right? I mean, half the conservative party didn't like the fact of Palin's non-experience (because of 9/11) and her latest spending spree should be the proverbial nail in the coffin. So here is my suggestion for what the conservative party needs to do. How about an old fashioned, real conservative that wouldn't dream of issuing no-bid contracts, spending taxpayer money like a drunken sailor or make up lies about needless wars, wouldn't wiretap or torture anyone? Hey, yeah, try that route Darman.

Even now she is dropping hints of unhappiness with her running mate's way of doing things—saying, if she had her way, the McCain campaign would skip the robo-calls, go after Obama's association with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and continue to pour resources into Michigan. It's easy to imagine her amped-up post-election critique: they dressed me in their fancy clothes, they fed me to their elite media friends, they even made me bow and scrape to "Saturday Night Live," but they still couldn't change me. I'm still Sarah from Wasilla and I'm ready to take Real America back.

Democrats, having witnessed Palin's wobbly 2008 performance (31 percent of registered voters in the new NEWSWEEK poll say Palin makes them less likely to vote for McCain), will no doubt relish the prospect of Palin lingering on the national stage. They should be careful what they wish for. For all her problems now, Palin has the biography, the ideological sympathies and the charisma to be what the Republican Party lacks: a populist, far-right politician with intense celebrity appeal.

The Republicans have officially become the party of radical people. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney mixed-up and so confused today's GOP that they simply don't know what a real conservative is anymore.

World Markets Sink; OPEC Slashing Output

TOKYO, Oct. 24 -- A recession-driven wave of selling swept across Asian and European markets on Friday amid tumbling corporate profits and a poor growth report from the U.K., while major oil exporting countries agreed to slash output in another concession to the sluggish global economy.

Is there any doubt that foreign countries will find ways around Big Oil Corporations simply because they have too. The US will be left in the dust of greater technology simply because oil companies keep us from liberating ourselves from the dictates of big oil. If we don't liberate ourselves from the destructive behavior of oil companies that control everything, including our congress we'll fall behind as a nation. Its time to move beyond these jerks, indeed it is long past time to move beyond fossil fuel. And we sure as hell don't want to go in this direction.

T. Boone Picken's plan will simply put the US back into the pocket of big oil all over again - to replay the same ugly control games. With Picken's plan we would simply end up having a natural gas shortage eventually, same as the oil shortage here in the US, than have more wars in foreign countries all over again. We're done with that route people, we're done with it. We're going to need to push Barack Obama in whole new direction, not liberation from the Mideast as much as liberation from oil companies for good.

Greenwald Muckrakes the WaPo Again.

The Washington Post has been using its editoral and op-ed pages for corrupt corporate agendas but Greenwald catches the latest façade from the WaPo and makes comments on facts on issue.

Western oil contractors (Big Oil Companies) don't like Iran and they didn't like Saddam either, not because of WMD, or the lack of a democracy but because Saddam would not do business with Western Oil contractors. Well, Iran doesn't do business with Western oil contractors either and is trying to keep Iraq from making a big mistake, letting US interest own Iraqi interest and set-up permanent military bases and thus an permanent occupation.

So here we see two "has been" congressman making claims in the WaPo.

First, an Islamic Republic of Iran with nuclear weapons capability would be strategically untenable. It would threaten U.S. national security, regional peace and stability, energy security, the efficacy of multilateralism, and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) regime. While a nuclear attack is the worst-case scenario, Iran would not need to employ a nuclear arsenal to threaten U.S. interests.

You can sum the whole Op-Ed up with, "Iran is trying to influence Iraq into NOT signing Bush’s greedy “no-bid” Western oil contracts". Big Oil wants to stop Iran from fraternizing with Iraq by using and threatening violence from US troops and the use of taxpayer money for Big Oil's own seflish, criminal adgenda". Big Oil gets our congress and former congresstional members to incite other reasons for war with Iran but the one all to obvious reason, oil control. Unfortunately the WaPo is all to happy to be of assistance. It seems to me, that Iran is merely trying to get a nuclear weapons in order to protect itself from greedy US oil corporations that lie about reasons for war. Iraq was an oil war, nothing but pure corporate greed. We, US citizens don't want an oil war with Iran, not anymore than we wanted one with Iraq. No permanent bases, no occupation in Iraq, we need to give them back their country as Obama said.

We need to find some way around fossil fuel for good, and for all time. We already have the science out there, we simply need to expand on it. If China can create a engine that runs on water, than we need tractors that run on water in our nations bread basket to produce food and ensure real security, and we trucks that can transport goods, or trains without the need for coal or fossil fuel. This is where we need to start ending big oil's ugly business in the killing fields of the Mideast for their bloody profit based all on lies about democracy and WMD.

It's what I call "the don't wait rule!" Remember Bush’s isolationist comment? Kevin Drum once wondered who the isolationist were after Bush spoke about isolationist but didn't attach the label because Democrats are not isolationist? The problem was that people were beginning to call Bush an isolationist on the grounds that Bush would never talk to foreign leaders he didn't like them or felt they were enemies. So Bush tried to bet the rap of being branded with that particular label as it were, so by calling quickly using the word to label others before they could label Bush with it, and you know it's the exact opposite. This is a Karl Rove gimmick, a sort of projectist strategy kind of gimmick. Karl Rove wanted to say that Democrats were isolationist even if it never would have made sense. Democrats prefer diplomacy, and everyone knows this too. Obama plans to talk to countries we have disagreements with, like Iran's President Ahmadinejad.

John McCain would be the only guy that could cause an international crisis if elected. It would simply be another third Bush term whereby McCain would continue to try and push those Big Oil no-bid contracts on Iraqis. That would surely incite Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr into more violence in Iraq and as the US doesn't have enough troops for a second surge, I have to wonder if John McCain would invoke the military draft, so fond of Vietnam is he. When it comes to McCain, victory in Iraq only means successfully forcing Iraqis to sign Bush's old no-bid contracts, and no democracy need apply same as it didn't under Bush. So we see that it isn't Obama but McCain that would spark an international crisis if he were elected.

Oh, and Obama needs to take Biden out to the woodshed. Another reason why Biden was a poor choice for VP, as Biden has a bad foot-in-mouth problem that is never going to go away.

Iraq: NO Oil Contracts Until 2009

The Bush Administration wasn't a total loss for big oil, as Big Oil did get Bush to lie about an oil crisis that never existed. It's true that the US gets most of its oil from overseas, as we did it during the Clinton years too, but for only $ 20 dollars a barrel or less during that time, as we are not due to really run out oil for another 40 years. There is plenty of oil in foreign countries, it's just that BP and ExxonMobil can't get control of the stuff on foreign soil due to over-greedy contracts. Big oil and Bush try to find and used ever conceivable lie they could come up with to fight this war in Iraq. The WaPo calls it our "economic security" and recently wrote an editorial on why Obama can't leave that oil in Iraq without our troops guarding it. Some security that would be if we stayed, huh?

Let the peoples of Iraq decide on Iraq's oil

On 13 October the Iraqi government, at a meeting in London with bosses of 34 international oil companies, opened an auction for 20-year contracts to develop big swathes of Iraqi oil and gas fields.

Bids will be submitted over the coming months, and the Iraqi government plans to award contracts in mid 2009. It will also open a second bidding round, on further oil and gas fields, in December 2008.

We don’t know the terms of the contracts. More to the point, neither do the peoples of Iraq.

News Flash: NO oil contracts will be awarded until long after Bush and Cheney have vacated the Office of the President of the US. No "take it or leave it" unbid oil contracts will ever be signed during Bush's reign as it stands now. The Iraqi people don't have to do anything Bush says and they know they don't have too, in fact, the whole world knows it. I not sure what Obama will do as president but it's the end of Bush's war for oil escapades and all his greedy big lies over what that war was about, which was not WMD, not al Qaeda in Iraq or democracy in Iraq. Greenwald: The core of the Republican Party has degenerated into the unrestrained id of its worst impulses, and it was good to see Powell specifically cite (and condemn) those elements as a principal reason why he is turning away from the party he has served for so long, and instead supporting the Democratic nominee.

If for instance John McCain's poll numbers were even with Obama's poll numbers right now or, heaven forbid, even higher than Obama's poll numbers, would Colin Powell be making this Obama endorsement as it were? Somehow I rather doubt it because the Bush and Cheney's campaigns were always ugly campaigns too. I never noticed that Colin Powell had a problem with the Bush/Cheney and Karl Rove tactics the entire time he work for them. Nobody can sit here and tell me Bush and Karl Rove were nice guys and clearly John McCain got all his plays right out of Karl Rove's playbook. So now we see Colin Powell parading himself about as the Christian Republican doing the right thing, but of course, doing the right thing was something Powell should have done way back when Hans Blix couldn't find one single credible piece of evidence from Colin Powell's UN PowerPoint Show in the lead up to the War in Iraq. The righteous Christian Colin Powell just sat there and let Bush trash Hans Blix and the entire UN Assembly for not going along with the Administration's lies about WMD in Iraq.

Is it that Colin Powell doesn't know how to be a decent man, nor any other Republican until a majority of Americans tell them how to be one? If ex-Nixon Administration Counsel John Dean knew that Bush was worse than Nixon, why didn't other Republicans care about these obvious facts too? John McCain is not doing anything that the Bush Administration is not telling him to do and I am not about to sit here pretend otherwise. Is Colin Powell planning on praising Bush and Cheney's Administration after John McCain's campaign fails on November 4th? I bet Colin Powell does exactly that.

Sen. Ted Stevens described a different problem. Time and again, he testified Friday, he returned home to find something new and expensive.

A new porch. A balcony. A fully stocked tool chest. A gas grill. A steel staircase. Rope lighting. A generator.

"I literally walked in and found all new furniture," Stevens testified Friday. "All of our furniture was gone."

Stevens testified that he didn't want any of those things and never asked for them. His friend, oil pipeline contractor Bill Allen, just kept giving.

And for this latest fairytale, Colin Powell threw away the last remaining shreds of his honesty and dignity.

So now Colin Powell has endorsed Obama, no surprises there. Powell was a reject of the Bush Administration and lots of conservative columnist including Anne Applebaum, who once gave Powell a scathing condemnation for not doing exactly what Bush wanted, which really was exactly what Dick Cheney wanted, since Bush was merely the Presidential face from the moment of his and Cheney's Supreme Court five indoctrination. And of course, Obama is NOT a far left Democrat as the McCain campaign has tried to paint him. Obama is a DLC Democrat and those Democrats are never far left candidates. Barack Obama is not Senator Russ Feingold or Barbara Boxer by any stretch of the imagination. And as we can see, McCain was not free to run his campaign from the dictates of the Bush Administration as the following endorsements show; "...but I'm also very pleased to have the endorsement of four former Secretaries of State – Secretaries Kissinger, Baker, Eagleburger and Haig."

Ah look, Poppy Bushie's friends all of them, of course, the controlled gang of the Big Oil people which dictated all in the Bush Administration and the loyal oil followers therein. There can be no doubt that Big Oil ran the country during the Bush Administration, utterly and completely and no input from anybody else mattered, and that included Powell's opinions, and it certainly was not the people of this country that matter one bit.

I think most of us saw that very clearly in the way McCain used "Joe, the Plumber (Joe Wurzelbacher)", and how it was just another cooked up scheme by the Republican Party that shows without a doubt that John McCain is every bit as sinister, criminal and nasty as Dick Cheney and George W. Bush ever were. McCain says he not like Bush but clearly plays the same evil, contoured games and same exact stunts that the current Administration always used. They go find a dumb Joe sixpack - parade him about as the average Joe, even as it's obvious that registered Republican Joe can't pass the smell test.

Before signing a military funding bill earlier this week, the president issued a "signing statement," barring any expenditure of funds to "To exercise United States control of the oil resources of Iraq."
The Friends Committee on National Legislation, a 65-year-old Quaker lobby, has worked with Congress for three years to pass legislation that bars the United States from building permanent military bases in Iraq or exercising control of Iraq's oil resources. A religous organazion that knows what Bush is doing and knows that it pure greed and complete evil, so perhaps there is hope for humanity after all.

Iraq should not fear saying NO to George W. Bush and stalling for time - it should fear saying YES to him alot more. Bush can be a pretty nasty guy indeed but if Turkey can say NO to Bush, if Pakistan can say NO to Bush as well as Saudi Arabia rejecting military troops and contractors, than Iraq can do the same.

This is why we should tell T. Boone Pickens - NO WAY. I'm sick and tired of big oil's dominion, it's cause nothing but trouble. This is why we didn't vote for Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary and why there seems to be a brewing civil war against oil barons and their ilk which may be closer than we all realize to the kind of civil war we had over slavery. It is time to move beyond fossil fuel completely. We already have the technology to do it - we must do it and that time is now with this next election to take a scalpel to sections of big oil that will eventually leave them like a junked out old car in a bygone salvage yard of yester-year.

Bush and McCain don't care about democracy in Iraq, they never did - only that oil and nothing else. The Bush Admininstration is going to end up escalating violence in Iraq all over again trying to force the signing of greedy Western oil contracts upon the Iraqi government and it's people. Iraqis want us out and we don't have enough money to keep troops in Iraq any longer so now is a very good time to declare victory and get out. Nancy Pelosi should NEVER have taken impeachment off the table because Americans need to get Bush and Cheney out of that office in order to prevent a violent Iraq from remerging and to put an end to an expensive occupation there.

Political Suicide if Ayers is Mentioned

Will Barack Obama run from his palling around with Ayers if that senile old goat, John McCain dares to mention the word "Ayers"? This is why tomorrow's debate will be bit like watching a dangerous circus act. John McCain might seriously fall from his high-wire act and it is sure to be bloody.

Talking Points Memo says:

In an interview that John McCain gave to local radio in St. Louis, McCain says that he was "astonished" to hear Barack Obama say recently that he was reluctant to bring up Ayers to Obama's face, and promises that he'll raise the subject at tomorrow's debate.

Uh Oh! Well that isn't good news, at least not for McCain. Recently on the Rachel Maddow Show, Lawrence O'Donnell told Rachel that McCain would NOT bring up the Ayers connection simply because it would be political suicide to do so. I must admit that I feel sort of sorry for McCain, because I do actually believe that McCain, the man actually did try to be a real maverick to the ugliness of the Bush Administration, but Bush is a very corrupt man that welds all the money. Little Bushie demands absolute loyalty to the point of political self-ruin for his fellow Republicans and it's never made any difference to Dubya what happens after he leaves the Whitehouse. This is why so many Republicans simply retired and left the party. It was the only way to refuse the utter ruthless of George W. Bush. But John McCain sold his soul to be the Republican nominee even if the price tag will never be worth it.

John McCain should just let it go. It should be noted that when it comes down to the only way for John McCain to win the debate - is in fact to lose the debate. Let it go, for once go in grace and let Bushism slide into the dark abyss for all time, or, bring up Ayers and the face the Charles Keating music again since McCain certainly didn't pay for that association in his past. Lose big or lose small - in the end, Mr. "France is our foe" already sold everything he was to Bush's grand plan for victory in Iraq. Cowards die many times and I'm sure McCain has never moved beyond being a POW, be it under little Bushie control or as a Vietnam Prisoner of War.

UPDATE: John McCain mentioned Ayers and it was disastrous all right. Obama didn't need the Keating event to make McCain look like a desperate, mean spirited old man that complains bitterly should anyone point out how ugly he has been in this campaign. All in all, a pretty bad moment for McCain, one that should have sincerely embarrassed the old senator - "at long last, McCain, have you no shame!"

There is a reason why Karl Rove had to leave the Whitehouse. It is because Karl was a very ugly person who's ugliness finally caught up with him. McCain failed to see and acknowledge Rove's fall from grace and what that signified. Without the 9/11 attack and an ignored August 6th briefing, Americans may well have demanded that Bush vacate the Whitehouse way back in his first term. It would have saved the nation from the catastrophic economic fall-out transpiring in our nation today. With all the evidence, we know that 9/11 was a very preventable catastrophe but that single event has cost us much in human lives and national expenditure. We can lay everything at Bush and Cheney feet because they cause all the problems we now have and both men noticeably don't have any regrets. Bush is seen laughing his way out of office making jokes about how Wall Street went crazy when Bush, himself spent taxpayer money like a drunken sailor during his term. It was merely a fun eight-year ride for those two crooks. Bush and Cheney looted taxpayer money, broke US Constitutional oaths of office and lied about everything. I will never, ever vote for a Republican again as long as I live.

McCain's winning in Iraq has been utterly and completely about winning oil contracts in Iraq, and nothing more. So we see that success in Iraq is really on the rocks right now with the latest WaPo's bad news just out today.

Lacking an Accord On Troops, U.S. and Iraq Seek a Plan B

With time running out for the conclusion of an agreement governing American forces in Iraq, nervous negotiators have begun examining alternatives that would allow U.S. troops to stay beyond the Dec. 31 deadline, according to U.S. and Iraqi officials.

Neither side finds the options attractive. One possibility is an extension of the United Nations mandate that expires at the end of the year. That would require a Security Council vote that both governments believe could be complicated by Russia or others opposed to the U.S.-led war. Another alternative would amount to a simple handshake agreement between Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and President Bush to leave things as they are until a new deal, under a new U.S. administration, can be negotiated.

Is this why McCain is currently claiming that he will win tomorrow's debate? I think we already know what the debate outcome will be even as David Brooks, David Broder, Pat Buchanan and the editorial pages of the WaPo will tell us that McCain won the debate just as decisively as the poll numbers afterwards will NOT. No American will quite understand why it is we can't just buy oil from a nationalised Iraq oil company instead of from ExxonMobil or BP seeing as how these corporations have made quite enough money already in our national run-up to economic ruin of late. And so once again we might find WaPo issuing yet another warning to Obama that we can't leave that oil in Iraq and that Obama needs to understand this fact, but this time the Netroots should be ready to level the charge, "why are we in Iraq, particular with our national economic problem so bad right now"? Is the war in Iraq about oil and did the WaPo consider that we US citizens were simply too stupid to "handle the truth!" What the WaPo knew all along but failed to informed the American public about - may be about to splash the pages of WaPo editorial section once again in telling black and white.

Poor Ms. Cindy Sheehan has yet to find out what noble cause Casey Sheehan had to died for over in Iraq, but the WaPo editorial board seems to know exactly why Casey had to die, and so, if once again the WaPo see fit to write one more stupid editorial on why we can't leave Iraq's oil in Iraq's sovereignty - than we should demand a congressional hearing as our WaPo journalist have some explaining to do.
